A trip to...

Russia

See the Sights
Moscow is the capital of Russia and is also one of the largest cities in the world. No trip to Moscow is complete without stopping by Red Square and the Kremlin. On the grounds of the Kremlin, make sure to see the Tsar Bell, the largest bell in the world, cast in 1735. Continue exploring Moscow by venturing to Gorky Park, the city's central park.

Visit St. Petersburg and see the Winter Palace, home to Russian emperors, and take a virtual tour of the Hermitage Museum. See the Peter and Paul Fortress, founded by Peter the Great in 1703. Learn about the White Nights of St. Petersburg, the time of year when the city comes out of winter darkness to enjoy over two months of endless daylight.

Vladivostok is a city in the far east of Russia, not far from the Russian borders with China and North Korea. Ride the Vladivostok Funicular up to the observation deck for great views.

The Trans-Siberian Railway is the longest railway in the world. It has connected Moscow with Vladivostok since 1916 and is 5,772 miles long. All aboard!
STEAM Activities
The Russian language is written with the Cyrillic alphabet -- check out some tips for learning this alphabet!

Lear about the delicate creations of Russian artist Peter Carl Faberg
é, visit the Faberg
é Museum in St. Petersburg and then try creating your own "Faberge Egg."

Explore St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow's Red Square and its remarkable architecture. Then draw your own!

Siberia gets REALLY cold -- as cold as 88 degrees below zero (although winter averages are generally more in the -40s and -50s). In honor of these icy cold winters, check out these ice-related science activities.
Travel with a Book
Read a book set in Russia or one with Russian characters!
