Zimbabwe

See the Sights
Great Zimbabwe is a ruined city which served as the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe. Construction began during the 11th century and the city's peak was during the 13th and 14th centuries. It now serves as a national monument and important historic site.

Zimbabwe is home to many exquisite national parks. Hwange National Reserve is the largest national park in Zimbabwe. Mana Pools offers incredible opportunities to see wildlife. Matobo Hills is an incredible park with the highest concentration of rock art in the southern part of Africa which dates back at least 13,000 years.

Victoria Falls, which sits at the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, is the largest waterfall in the world. Make sure to fly over the cliffs while visiting!

Bulawayo is the second largest city in Zimbabwe (after the capital city of Harare) and is steeped with history and culture. Explore the art exhibitions at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Immerse yourself in history at the National History Museum. Learn more about the impact of railways in Zimbabwe at the Bulawayo Railway Museum.

STEAM Activities
Zimbabwe has delicious food! Try making Dovi (a peanut chicken stew) or Manhanga (boiled pumpkin), or Nhopi (a porridge=like dish).

In honor of Victoria Falls, create a sticky note waterfall. Or create a rainbow waterfall with Skittles!

Listen to some folk music from Zimbabwe and then create your own versions of traditional Zimbabwean musical instruments.
